5 Clever Last-Minute Halloween Costumes You Already Have in Your Closet
There are two types of people: those who love all things dark & spooky and picked a costume for Halloweekend 2018 on November 1, 2017... and those who would much rather celebrate by watching a scary movie and then trying to fall asleep after.
For those of you who identify as the second alternative, we have some good news: we’ve laid out a couple easy, clever costumes you probably already own (or, if you don’t, we can help you out too).
So start digging through that closet of yours because we have until Wednesday to get you all dressed up … or be shunned by your posse until next year. Happy Halloween!
Tourist
UPTOP dad hat, Hawaiian shirt, fanny pack, sunglasses, socks/sandals, disposable camera
If you love travel and adventure as much as we do, we bet you have some classic, tourist staples hiding somewhere in your house. You know, all those useful things you were embarrassed to take with you because you wanted to blend in with the locals?
Yeah, we’re lookin’ at you, Fanny Pack.
Luckily, this holiday is all about pretending… so it’s perhaps your one chance to go out in public in full tourist mode without any judgment. This costume is only complete with a pair of binoculars around your neck (or, bonus points, a disposable camera to take fun photos of your weekend!).
The Confused Celebrator
Depends on the holiday, but we’d recommend a 4th of July-theme with UPTOP USA apparel or Christmas with an UPTOP ugly sweater
Maybe Halloween isn’t actually your thing, and you’d rather celebrate something else? No problem -- just pick the classic threads from a different holiday and say you’re “confused”. This could mean a sparkly dress, champagne and some 2015 NYC glasses that have been hiding for 3 years, or it could be all of your favorite red, white and blue garb and a sparkler in your hand -- either way, it’s an easy and unique option for the last-minute Halloweener.
Hunter
UPTOP hunting gear, anything camo or hunter’s orange, camo face paint, Nerf blaster
If you’ve already sunk money into the best hunting gear (or, since we’re in Montana, you know someone who has), why not take this opportunity to show it off? We give you permission to go all-out by coating your face in some paint for maximum camouflage.
For those of you with a significant other, this can also be a great couples Halloween costume; the other person just has to be the prey (deer, moose, bear… whatever you’re hunting for this season).
Also keep in mind that almost no bouncers will let you in a bar with a Nerf gun -- so be sure to keep that part of the costume at the pregame.
Ski Bum
UPTOP beanie, goggles, scarf, leggings/long underwear, snow boots, old lift tickets
Ski season is right around the corner… and why wait to break out your gear any longer than you have to? You can grab your normal gear or you can showcase anything you have neon or spandex to add a vintage, 1980s vibe.
Either way, you’ll definitely be the coziest of your friends while you’re all in between destinations.
Scarecrow
Face paint/makeup, jean overalls, flannel, boots
We’ll wrap up by suggesting something a little more festive for the occasion. Since scarecrows are meant to look like people, it’s not so surprising that most of us have some outfit pieces that work for this costume. The most important part in making this costume work is the face paint or makeup; you can make it cute or scary!
Trick or Treat, Y’all
See? Even the laziest of Halloween-goers can flex their creative muscles and come up with a costume—or five, to be exact.
Celebrate safely, friends!
